February snow
Falls in flat flakes,

Lacy angels
From a white sky.
Birds gather,
Waiting in
Trees that wear
Cold white coats,
Dreaming wistfully
of Spring and leaves.
The feeder is a busy café,
Dark starlings and
Red-winged blackbirds
Taking a spot at the counter…
And still, the snow falls.
Did Ralph take that photo? Absolutely gorgeous. I will be doing more photos/audio in my slices this year since both arms are broken. I love the idea of the feeder being a busy cafe – brings a smile to my face in the middle of a beautiful image.

Both your arms are broken? OMG! Did that happen on a ski slope?

Lynne, your poem captures the beauty of falling snow. I am sure the birds welcome the food they don’t have to search too hard for. I know the birds at our feeder are glad for what I put out for them.

Thanks, Bob. Ralph says the birds are eating us out of house and home! We feed no mess seed, thistle, peanuts, suet, and put out two cylinders. We have about ten cardinals, woodpeckers, doves, pigeons, starlings, red-winged blackbirds, and blue jays. Sadly, chickadees have not appeared for two years now.

Thanks, Bob. Ralph puts out no mess, peanuts, suet, thistle, and cylinders of mixed feed. The birds love it!

I love bird feeder talk. Am always peeking out the bedroom window to see who has stopped by.

I have a big bay window in the family room where I can scout out birds who visit our feeders. I am a bird watcher!

The cafe is always busy. I cannot wait until May and June when birds are busy feeding, building nests, and laying eggs. I am glad you visited today. I will try to find your post!
